Requesting rDNS

How to request rDNS on a dedicated server

What is rDNS?

Reverse DNS (rDNS) records are PTR (pointer) records that map IP addresses back to domain names. Unlike standard DNS A records that point domains to IP addresses, PTR records work in reverse - they tell the internet what domain name should be associated with a specific IP address.

Email servers often require valid rDNS records to prevent messages from being marked as spam. Without proper rDNS configuration, your server may face delivery issues.

How to request rDNS?

1. Open a ticket

Start by going to our client area, and then on the left navigation bar, please select Support [1] > Open Ticket [2]

2. Fill out the body of the ticket

Then, select the Technical Support department

Afterward, please select the appropriate server in the Realted Service field, and fill out the Subject, and the Message part as per the table below:

Subject [1]

rDNS request - dedicated server

Message [2]

Hello,

Please add in the following rDNS records to the following IPs:
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx > mail.crunchbits.com

Thank you!

3. Submit the ticket

Then, please click the Submit button at the bottom, and wait until one of our team members adds your PTR record to our DNS zone.

After we get back to you with confirmation that we added your PTR record, please wait approximately 24-48 hours for it to be propagated.
